Customer reviews

I have both brown and black full-grain leather versions. After three years of almost daily use the heels of the brown shoes are starting to show wear. For me this is very good. The fabric cuffs are slightly frayed but the removable insole has kept its shape and its fabric covering. This insole is a good idea as it can be removed and washed; when put back in the shoe it stays in place and never slips. Although approaching the end of their useful life the shoes are still comfortable and waterproof. My one complaint is that the leather uppers were fairly quick to crease and look scruffy. The leather of the black pair appears to be slightly thicker and less prone to creasing. If polished they could pass as "smart" unlike the brown pair, but I have to say I have not worn them nearly as often.

Lovely comfy shoes but the soles can be very slippery. Wet grass is especially deadly closely followed by wet tree roots. Traction is lost even on wet tarmac. Not totally waterproof despite the Goretex layer and copious amounts of dubbin. My last pair of Brasher shoes lasted 3 years before they fell apart. These are just 12 months old and are ready to be replaced. The soles are wearing down but the heel cushions have fallen apart exactly the same as my last pair. The plastic stiffeners inside the heel crack and break then start rubbing away at the padding. My wife's Pemba shoes (like Likomas) are showing similar signs of wear. I spoke to Brasher but they reckon that it's just wear and tear. 12 months wear isn't great for an expensive pair of shoes but what do you expect when they are made in China?
