The Explorer Trek is a much loved classic fell walking boot. The Explorer upper has been modernised and features targeted foam positioning in the collar, which is integral to the enhanced holding system.
These are good & comfortable but made in China. The previous Explorer Trek model was made in Slovakia where their attention to detail was diligent & exemplary. Everything was assiduously symmetrical which enhanced the WOW! factor. Consequently I give 4 but don't let that put you off because it's only a slight cosmetic issue. This item is good value. Yes, I would buy it again. Walk on...

As the other reviewers have said these boots are incredibly comfortable from the first time you slip your feet into them. They are like old friends you have walked in for years.

My first ever pair of Berghaus Boots, the Men's Explorer Trek GTX boots, are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. Immediately I put them on; the fit and the comfort were absolutely perfect. After three days I have now experienced heavy rain and the snugness has enabled me to move along with supreme ease keeping my feet dry and warm through mud and water-logged grass!

My old boots gave me a blister on my last walk with them so I decided to make sure I got some better ones this time round. Read the reviews about these boots but thought "they can't really be that comfortable straight from the box, can they?" Well guess what? THEY ARE! Absolutely fantastic. I would recommemd these to anyone who'll listen! Very, very comfortable from day one; no hot spots or blisters which makes walking even more enjoyable. Well done Berghaus, and well done Outdoorkit for excellent service. I'll be back!

I initially bought these boots as I was going on a trek in China in the infamous tiger leaping gorge and needed some shoes with ankle support. I've never been a fan of walking boots and always go for gore-tex walking shoes so I was quite apprehensive about buying these but I didn't want to break my ankle halfway across the world with no medical help so I took a gamble and bought these based on the strength of the berghaus brand!
Upon testing the boots I found the uppers felt soft and comfortable whilst the sole had enough flex to hit the hills straight away without the need for a breaking in period.
Fast forward 2 weeks into China 2600m above sea level, trekking through tough mountainous terrain. I threw everything I could at it including submerging them at the base of a waterfall, exposing them to 40 degree heat, scrambling up and jumping off rocks and even a spot of mountain running for good measure. These boots passed every test and considering I had not even broken them in, I had zero blisters and no uncomfortable points on my feet.
For me, these boots were perfect and I could not find any substantial fault. If you are thinking about buying these, do not hesitate and get them NOW!

Fantastic boots! I bought these to replace my old faithful Berghaus boots and based on another review took a chance and wore them first time out on a 19 mile walk around the Edale horseshoe including the Kinder southern edges. They felt like a well broken in pair of boots straight from the box and I didn't even get a hint of a blister or hot spot. A bit lighter weight than my previous boots so I don't know how they'll wear yet, but no problems so far.

I've been buying these boots for the last 5 years, they're not just good walking boots, they are rugged and hardwearing and are great for everyday use, great support and they have never failed me in workmanship and build quality.

I purchased these for a climb on Mount Snowdon Feb 2009. I was a little apprehensive because I only had chance to take them on a 7 mile road walk to break them in before my climb. On the assent I encountered scrambling sections, very sleep inclines over loose and wet rock and fitted crampons to make the final assent over ice and snow. In short these boots performed excellently.
After a six hour climb on Snowdon followed by a 3 hour night orienteering walk through uneven forest terrain my feet did not have a single, even remotely sore point. With a thick pair of socks they were comfortable on an epic scale. With fantastic traction over the worst terrain I could throw at them they have given me the confidence to take them with me on any walk/climb I am likely to go on. I raved about them so much on my return my Dad and Brother are now shopping for a pair. 10 out of 10.
