Meindl Men's Meran GTX

Excellent boot. Very confortable and fits my wide feet well as they are just too tight in Meindl's standard boot. Due to the memory foam you do need to retie the boots after a few minutes walking until that form to your feet. Follow the instructions and they work well.

I deeply regret buying a pair of these boots. Lousy value for money. Despite all the hype at the store about German quality, these things have no lace cleat on the ankle so that the tension is not maintained as you tie them off...and as you walk this also means that the laces creep and slacken. On top of this fundamental flaw, there is no effective insulation, so that my feet are always cold (and this in a particularly mild winter).... How can this be acceptable in the 21st Century, when even the cheapest of outdoor garments feature a layer of Thinsulate ? For this money you can certainly buy better boots, and for half the money you can but boots just as good. Beware !

Had these boots for a few months now and they have just got better! Like the wider fit and the excellent grip from the sole. Was initially not sure about the multiple pieces of nubuck leather on the top but there are no leaks and they clean up easily. Boots were easy to break in, unlike the heavier boots I have had. Would recommend to anyone with slightly wider feet. Probably the best boots I have, and would buy again. Have also bought my wife a pair and she is delighted too :)
